Historical Fictions I Wish To Be Translated

Rating: 3,92, terbit Februari 2006

Tentang Joan of Arc, dari sudut pandang sepupunya.

“Joan of Arc... glorified mascot or truly a holy messenger? One thing I loved about this book is it allows you to decide.”

di’s Virgins by Barbara Quick
Rating 3,53, terbit Juli 2007

Tentang seorang gadis, murid komposer ternama Antonio Vivaldi.

“This novel is based on the real life composer Antonio Vivaldi who taught in an orphanage where there were tremendously gifted girls who sang and played musical instruments such as the violin. The story is told poetically through the voice of an orphan who plays violin and who is searching for her mother.”

Rating: 4,01, terbit 1987

Tentang Michelangelo yang melukis langit-langit Sistine Chapel.

“The book also gets inside his head as an artist as he designs and executes all of his work, especially his most beloved marble sculptures. I had no idea there are so many grades of marble and never thought about how arduous it was to extract the right marble out of the Roman hills. Or to move the finished sculptures to their designated locations.

The dense writing and length (760 pages) made it a slog for me to get through - but an exciting slog and I find myself thinking a lot about it. That's why I gave it five stars.”

Wife by Paula Mclain
Rating 3,74, terbit Februari 2011

Tentang kisah cinta Ernest Hemingway dan istri pertamanya, Hadley Richardson.

“A heartbreaking portrayal of love and torn loyalty, The Paris Wife is all the more poignant because we know that, in the end, Hemingway wrote that he would rather have died than fallen in love with anyone but Hadley.”

Madame Tussaud by Michelle Moran
Rating 3,99, terbit Februari, 2011

Tentang Marie Tussaud yang ahli membuat patung lilin.

“Spanning five years, from the budding revolution to the Reign of Terror,Madame Tussaud brings us into the world of an incredible heroine whose talent for wax modeling saved her life and preserved the faces of a vanished kingdom.”

  1. The Paris's Wife itu bagus ya covernya...simple but beautiful...:)

  2. Yg lain udah pernah baca (walo gak semuanya selesai) kecuali Madame Tussaud. So pengen bgt Madame Tussaud diterjemahin.

Btw pny rekomendasi buku yg bgs ttg freemason gak, mbak?
